Ant, thanks for the link. You really have to approach the property differently. In my opinion, the house has to be at the top by the street. If I build it down there in the north valley, how do I get my wastewater to the street? Lifting station? Please no! So we build the house facing SE. The garage or carport to the west next to it. And then leave the NW and NE parts undeveloped. And we will have evening sun there. Possibly the garage and the main house could be swapped as well. So the car would then be in the SE and the house in the middle. The good thing is that the western neighbor is also significantly lower, so the sun is not blocked too much. This property simply does not allow a south garden without massive earthworks.

Thank you all. Also for the building tips, although I am now first seeing the problems with the architect.

I find the word "burn out" a bit harsh. We didn’t force an architect on our idea. The first one wanted a south garden and everything at the back + the long driveway. Why it didn’t progress there was due to the general contractor. The offer for certain parts was supposed to cost around amount x, but officially it was almost 50% more and so on. Accessibility was very poor, no call back etc. That’s what I meant by service...

Architect 2 looked at the property and on his own suggested the building layout that secretly also appealed to us as laypeople. Later, several 3D images (only with the shell) were shown. When the first plans came afterward, we were almost blown away. He even wrote something about our "dream house."
At the last meeting he then completely surprisingly came up with the house at the back in the north + long driveway as the best compromise and the statement that the other variant actually doesn’t really work on that property. Who is burning out whom here?

By the way, the possibility that a lift station might be needed with a basement came from me. Up until then he hadn’t dealt with it at all and said, hmm well, it’s not that expensive after all.

By the way, the sewer connection is further down the street, at about 3/4 of the SO point, thus about 1.5m lower and is supposed to be laid 4.5m deep. Without a basement, I don’t think a lift station would be necessary.

P.S.: Yes, it’s about the linked project.

The plot is actually favorable for construction with three restrictions (Südstraße, hillside location, and tree at the driveway) (square-like, and above all: huge building envelope). Something should be possible there. But without assigning blame: communication problems never really involve just one party. In post #4 of your plot thread (link see this post #5) I basically said everything about that.

Communication problems or the persistence of an idea in the client's mind that, in the architect's opinion, cannot be implemented. I would now rather say: I do not give up the idea of the house at the front, but I also do not know the slope of the property. Whether the architect is being burned out or whether you have gotten a bad or uncreative one is something you have to judge yourself: such insight into people should be enough to look for someone who has experience with slopes. However, the budget is often limited, so you usually have to make some compromises.

If it is my property, into which I have already invested a lot of money and love, then I do not wait until maybe a 3rd or 4th architect has a brilliant idea. Then I take the plans and look closely at what works or doesn't work and why. Once you have understood that, you can consider for yourself how you would like it and then replan together with the architect.
