I have no special relationship to roofs, but to complex systems in general.

When architects acquire unpaid work samples - their efforts are really not free after all - I view that rather skeptically. From web designers I often hear that this has already shifted into the customer's expectation.

Regarding the gathering of ideas, I want to warn: the feeling of saturation only occurs long after the overload of digestion has already been "initiated."

That means one might only feel the cash register maturity of the options accumulated up to option 50, but meanwhile the first 20 options have already irretrievably become entangled.

If a bit of persistence on one or two (unsuitable) killer criteria is added, Morbus StanSch is already chronic.

The upper floor is almost perfect in its layout. We can already log it in like this. I would only inflate it a bit in terms of square meters *duckandrun* So the children's room and reading corner slightly larger.

The ground floor is basically okay. I just can't imagine an entrance on the north... Since the street runs to the west, I see/expect the front door there. I just think it’s nicer if you can see the front door and don't have to walk past the house first.

The location of the driveway/garage/front door is THE key question that the architect can hopefully answer to our satisfaction.

Regarding the house driveway junction, Grandma's home remedy booklet says that halving often already extends the setting down of the garage very far.

Then let's hope the architect has a copy of this masterpiece

No way! Those are just ideas that you can carry around in your mind to get a feeling for your wishes. Stay open to alternatives and just don’t take any sketch with you!

Yes, now he can show what he’s got. Maybe there’s a garage on the first floor with an elevator down or something crazy like that.

Really go there only with the space program, development plan, site plan, etc. and let them do the work.

It’s no coincidence that nothing is left of my "perfect" floor plan. Others here experienced the same. Sure, it can happen that you think, what is this crap - never.

Our general contractor boss, architect, and sales in one person showed up, had looked at the plot beforehand, had graph paper, a ruler. Questions and off we went. He worked with us and developed things. You never had the feeling of a nice suggestion but...
You can also see how different his houses are.
