Are you actually allowed to replace your VVDi? I would like to reposition it, and since I am renewing the 1st TAE and the cable in between anyway and installing a lightning protection, I could replace the old part with an LSA-VVD85 at the same time.

Congratulations to the new earthling! And until the sandbox.... as far as I remember, it will probably take another 14 days!!!

Thank you very much, but I believe it won’t be happening in 2 weeks yet. The little one is just 5½ weeks old and should first be able to sit and grasp things.

Do you mean the Telekom's APL? The APL is property of Telekom and you have no business touching it. Actually, the first TAE is also Telekom property, but it seems the rules aren't enforced that strictly anymore, from what one reads. If it is to be moved somewhere else, then only after consulting Telekom.

To be honest, today you don't even need a TAE socket. Just run the two wires to the router and connect them to a network socket on pins 4 and 5. From there, use a patch cable to the router. The rest of the distribution is then done via LAN inside the house.

No, the APL (I assume type EVz 80) is mounted outside. From there, an underground cable (6 twin cores) runs into the house to the connection and distribution boxes (type VVDi6). Only now does the J-Y(ST)Y cable go to the 1st TAE.

I would like to add surge protection to the line between VVD and TAE and move the 1st TAE. Since I have to lay the cable anyway and the VVD is poorly mounted, the idea was to replace it with a new one (with an undamaged housing) and move it a few centimeters.

The VVD is mounted (inside) on an exterior wall that needs to be replastered; it is not screwed on but appears to be fixed with a central nail. I probably won’t be able to remove it without damage.

But then the passive test termination is missing, and in case of a fault, the "line cannot be measured through." Which in turn means that possibly a technician will come by and complain about the missing TAE.
