Room height is 297cm and floor-to-floor height is 332cm.

Oh, well then that works. I think a podium would also be possible - due to the room height you are quite flexible there.

I am not familiar with log houses. How is it with the interior walls? Do they now have to run where the edges of the extension come on the outside? In other words, would something like this also work? If yes, that would be a rather classic approach closer to the original design with a platform staircase. Bathrooms accessible to everyone are often desired in families. If you don't want to have the children nearby, you could separate the hallway after the stairs directly as a parents' area.

The interior walls can be placed freely, but there are supports and beams that cannot be moved. We have 4 supports on the upper floor and at least the same number on the ground floor. However, I still need to clarify this; these thick black dots seem illogical to me, as there is no load to be absorbed at those points.

We have now moved on to 2 more drafts; tomorrow, the future homeowner will draw, and I will write why we made certain decisions. After that, it will go into the next round. However, I believe it will be much more sensible – in the places where we do something differently than suggested, there are decisive reasons.

I'm curious. You have to live in the house, we can only say what we would do differently.

Hopefully, we will also get photos. Interesting project

So then, a new sketch. We are not so talented that we could do it directly in CAD or something like that – or we just haven’t found the right program yet.

EG:
We still have the staircase in the "dirty area" because it is more important to us that cooking smells don’t spread throughout the entire house. The open area on the ground floor comes closest to our way of living; we have to make a compromise somewhere here. In return, the staircase is now planned much more generously and can be designed somewhat... opulently at the bottom. Storage space can then be created inside the staircase.
You can go directly from the hallway into the bathroom so that dirty dogs, children, and sweaty athletes can go straight to the shower. A second entrance from the guest room spares them the detour through the hallway – here we still have to see whether we move the door or how we make the whole area less cramped.
The transition to the living room is formed by a slightly recessed sliding door made of wood and glass so that when entering the house there is plenty of light from all sides and an attractive overall impression.
The fireplace room will become the new library and will only have a very small fireplace so that it can at least be used. Finally, we also know where the grand piano will stand.
Access to the guest room/office is through the living room, as is access to the living basement.

OG:
The family bathroom in the previously unused hallway, an additional laundry room, otherwise everything as before – just due to moving the staircase.
