Yes, I think that pretty much sums it up. We planned the individual rooms off the cuff so that everything fit. The architect then shaped it into this form. The staircase wasn't supposed to take up a huge amount of space; maybe we also "messed up" a bit with that requirement. Otherwise, I wouldn't know where to make cuts in many rooms. So far, the furnishings are only somewhat correctly drawn in the kitchen and bedrooms; the sofa in the living area doesn't exist, and we will probably have to go through a detailed planning phase there as well. We used existing rooms as a template and checked whether everything fits or if it needs to be bigger. Was that so wrong?

Ok, then I have understood that, although I don't see any of the problems with the roof window, but maybe it is just a matter of taste. Basically, you have kind of portholes on the roof, right? Hopefully, in the end, the whole thing doesn't look like the Ark of Noah.

I don’t find the staircase so bad at all. I do like pedestal stairs. In a wooden cabin, no one would expect the galactic promenade spiral staircase with a curved railing for Cinderella.

As long as it's watertight....

Yes, in the end we have the round light catchers on the roof. Alternatively, we would have to set the roof back, but that doesn't achieve much and the constructive wood protection is also gone - I don't think that would be effective with this type of construction.

How would you clean the roof windows at least every 4 weeks? Set up the big ladder once, go up on the roof and get started? I don't know if that's realistic. I'd rather be in the outdoor fitness area during that time and chop firewood.

Kaho, this is not a wooden cabin, this is a wooden villa. With a villa, I simply imagine a different staircase. It also won’t be as wooden as the cabins in Norway for tourists.

Be sure to draw in the proper furniture that you would buy.
For example, ceiling-high bookshelves look good but are useless if you have a fear of heights. The double-row shelves need more depth, don’t work for large-format books, etc.

I'm afraid not at all. Are those special trees around that secrete resin or something? I mean, a strong downpour will wash the dirt off the skylights again unless it sticks firmly. : You think the size calls for a more prominent staircase? Mh. Matter of taste. A nice landing is also something fine – just mustn't be too tiny. There's of course also space for something else. If you relocate the staircase, though, it throws the entire floor plan off. Is the OP still willing to do that?
