Not that anyone thinks we were inactive, we have been looking for something for 1-2 years and have gone around a lot. The plots that were still available are being kept for possible grandchildren who live in Munich. You know how that is.

Considering that you want children anyway, it might be better to look for an existing house with a garden right away and adapt it to your ideas over the years. Is there a reason why you want to move out of the granny flat right now? I also briefly researched on a platform and found out that there are terraced houses available for the price, which I would prefer over a condominium. But you are surely watching the market carefully and know best if something else would be an option for you or not.

With 120m2 living space, without a 2nd children's room (loft studio not divided) on 147m2 plot. That means the same living space (if you subtract the stairs), the same or smaller garden but everything on 3 levels, for 489k€ (new build in Kenzingen). hm - don't know what's better/nicer there ... semi-detached houses (new build) then start at 700k€ upwards.

I have seen another, cheaper end-terrace house, but I have not researched every alternative offer in detail. I also do not mean that it necessarily has to be something better/more beautiful, but I am condominium-traumatized and think that in a house with 8 parties there is a relatively high potential for conflict, which would be too risky for me.

@Piniponk isn't it the same with a semi-detached house/RE? There is potential for conflict in all types of housing. On that basis, you shouldn't buy anything at all, only rent.

Right, these are the houses in Kenzingen, further away from my employer and the parents. However, it would also be okay in Rennen, but we tend to prefer a condominium, as these can be rented out better and are much more spaciously laid out. These semi-detached houses are really tight and close to the main road, which is not so great in retirement, but they are solidly built and probably better than a condominium for some people.
We want to move out of the basement apartment because we have been living in 35 sqm and one room for 4 years. This also leads to tensions with my parents. We also want children, just thought at some point you have to jump at the opportunity. We find Emmendingen and its surroundings beautiful. In winter, you can be in the ski area in 30 minutes, and in summer you can go biking very well. Additionally, both my brothers are also in the immediate vicinity.
An older house would also be something, but as I said, very, very expensive, and since my wife is not working yet, that would be too much of a burden. Therefore, we want to start with a condominium, and as soon as she starts working in the school system and becomes a civil servant, we can consider something else and rent it out, or am I missing something?
