That's exactly the kind of thing I see as a no-go and deal-breaker. If I have absurd special dimensions; sure, that then takes time and will also be more expensive. But I would never be willing to wait more than 2 weeks for a standard cabinet door and then also pay an extra price!

In my experience, this also goes quite quickly in the kitchen studio. And one thing to consider is that the delivery times from the blue department store are not always what they claim to be. For an acquaintance, it was even 8 weeks once!

My friend's Ikea kitchen took 6 months after the installation appointment to be fully usable. Half of that was Ikea's fault, the rest was the fault of the (Ikea-ordered) craftsman.

The items that had to be delivered later all had a delivery time of at least 8 weeks.

Therefore, I don't believe that a kitchen fitter can be much slower...

Hmm.. if I have a kitchen where standard dimensions just don’t fit, that’s a good option. And how often do you actually replace a cabinet door? If there is a scratch in it, I can live with that for another 4-6 weeks. That wouldn’t be so dramatic for me.

If the manufacturer makes something to measure, it’s logical that it’s expensive and takes longer.

But with a new build, I would refrain from that. If you already need custom dimensions from the start, you usually messed up during the planning phase. (or too little space, or too exclusive wishes)

... I cannot recommend the 20-drawer mini apothecary cabinet - we have an Ikea kitchen unit in the utility room with that thing - unfortunately it never really closes properly.

It seems it has now been replaced with a new model. It also did not make a good impression, especially since the front was slightly standing off in almost every displayed Ikea kitchen..
