Hello
This thread is already over 1 year old, unfortunately it took me so long due to delays in the house construction until now finally the kitchen purchase is pending.
As already mentioned in this thread, back then I bought several Faktum-Akerby countertops at half price in the Ikea bargain bin. Now I want to use this countertop together with the cabinets of the Metod kitchen.
Please take a look at the attached picture I made:
Since normally the Metod countertop is 1.5cm shallower than the Faktum countertop, I want to compensate for this by mounting the countertop in front of the tile backsplash, while the cabinet with wall rail is mounted directly to the wall.
Tile and tile adhesive should also add up to a thickness of about 1.5cm.
An important detail is still the height of the wall rail.
According to the installation manual, it should be mounted at a minimum height of 820mm. I assume these 820mm are necessary for a plinth height of 8cm. I would like to increase the plinth height by 5mm to 8.5cm so that the 8cm plinth definitely fits under the cabinet. So I am calculating a tolerance of 5mm that could occur during assembly (imprecise drilling of the wall rail, etc.). Is that OK?
Thus, the wall rail should then be mounted at a height of 825mm, the wall rail itself is 5.5cm high resulting in a height of 880mm, which is 5mm below the cabinet top edge.
The tile backsplash still has to be done by the tiler, I think if he starts 2cm below the countertop top edge, that should be fine.
Then the bottom edge of the tile would be at height 8.5 80 3.8-2= 90.3cm. This results in a distance between the top edge of the wall rail and the bottom edge of the tile of 90.3-(82.5 5.5)=2.3cm. Could that become a problem?
As an overhang of the countertop at the front by the front panel, 2.1cm would result.
My question: Does anyone see a problem in this plan or have I overlooked or forgotten something?
The only problem I see is that if I later buy a new countertop (Metod) then I have an overhang of 3.5cm because the Metod countertop is 1.5cm shallower than the Faktum countertop.
Or should I rather buy a proper Metod countertop and mount it directly to the wall under the tile backsplash like the cabinet, as it is actually intended?
