Successor of Ikea Pax cabinets in birch

Hello everyone,
I bought the Pax wardrobe in the new birch look on Friday. The seller did warn me that there is now a new birch tone, but I thought: it can’t be that bad.
Unfortunately, it is very bad!

The surface is completely matte and somehow yellowish pale. The previously sharp edges are now more rounded, kind of like a poorly wrapped gift.
Overall, the surface looks totally cheap, a bit like matte plastic. Also, I suspect that the material (you really can’t call it wood anymore) is softer than the previous model. In any case, after assembly there was a really deep dent exactly where my laminate floor is rock hard. It must have happened while hammering the back panel.
I hope Ikea doesn’t switch the entire birch range to this new surface. Otherwise, they would definitely lose me as a regular customer.

Luckily I chose the Drammen doors. That’s why the wardrobe only annoys me when it’s open and the dent is well concealed. Too bad about the old Birch Pax! I’m curious to hear what you think about the new color...

So my confusion is now very great.

Today I assembled the 100x35x201 Birch carcass. I wanted to post photos here. But I don't need to, because I cannot see any difference from the old model!

I have no rounded edges and no color difference. The only difference is the type of packaging. Previously, the back panel was split into two parts. That meant that the package was about 50 cm wide despite the 35 cm depth.
Now, however, the back panel is split into three parts and therefore the package is only about 35 cm wide.

Maybe I don't have the new model at all?

Hi Ikea fans,

I was one too, but since the new Pax birch, I am totally disappointed! I can only agree with ikeowski, the worst thing is the color, yellowish, no trace of the beautiful, warm birch decor anymore. I already have 3 Pax birch wardrobes and at first I thought they had put together the wrong wardrobes for me at Ikea, but unfortunately it looks like this now. It also does not match the real wood drawers at all in terms of color and the surface feels totally like plastic. I would have loved to return it if it hadn’t already been assembled by a friend in hours of work!!!!
Can only advise against Pax birch, I will also complain directly to Ikea!!!

This is really a horror, I haven't seen Pax yet, but if it turns out to be similar to Faktum Nexus or FAKTUM ÄDEL in new birch then good night. For me, this is the most incredible product range change since IKEA memories. I never expected it could get this bad. Gone are the beautiful "warm" birch fronts. Could cry.

Why am I only seeing these latest posts now? It is grau-en-Haft!

For years we have had Pax Birke wardrobes, now bought new ones without checking beforehand if anything might have changed - but why would you?

It's enough to make you cry. Such cheap decor...
