Yes, a few months ago we planned the kitchen on a similar floor plan with similar kitchen dimensions. The kitchen is drawn so that the kitchen should look "something like that."
A detailed plan can still be made later (there will certainly be a lot of changes), which is independent of the floor plan. For an 8m² kitchen, we would definitely look at it directly afterwards or have it planned in detail. However, I think that it is not necessary for us to determine this in detail in advance.

We will probably pull the island area further south so that we have more passage space – maybe remove one tall cabinet and install a door. According to the drawing, the stove should stay there.

There should be enough space in this huge kitchen for the remaining things :D I think that with these kitchen dimensions a nice kitchen can be planned.

In my opinion, you are wasting too much space between the kitchen and the dining table!

You would of course have to redesign the windows.

Wow, great idea, but unfortunately not feasible for one reason:

The kitchen is supposed to allow a direct view into the courtyard/on the street. So we would have the cloakroom right next to the front door and the kitchen would be pushed to the back. Thus, the "view" would no longer be there and we would only have windows facing the neighbor’s garage. We would find that very unfortunate.

But you are right... There is a lot of "unnecessary" space there. However, the "island" is supposed to be equipped with bar stools. The table can even be bigger if desired. So the space here should be available, otherwise it could feel quite cramped and squeezed. Nevertheless, we say the same thing... We tell ourselves: "nice to have," so maybe the dining area will feel very spacious and not too tight.

Finally someone who doesn't want to squeeze in a mini dressing room at any cost ;) The upper floor is wonderful and spacious. Since you are planning for 2 children, I would consider a 2nd shower on the ground floor... worth its weight in gold by the teenage years! The kitchen situation has already been addressed and is still being planned. Otherwise, it will be a beautiful house!

Thank you very much for your feedback :) It’s always nice to hear things like that!

Yes, we are probably very conservative in that regard. We also see the advantages of a walk-in closet, no question, but in my opinion it only pays off if you really have a very, very generous space.

In our case: just slap a 3.00m wardrobe against the wall and that’s it. Neatly tidied, nothing gathers dust, done. Definitely suits us best :D

yes, the shower on the ground floor... that was an endless topic for us. For cost reasons, as well as the size of the WC, we decided against it. I also suspect it’s worth its weight in gold during the teenage years – but I don’t see why I should shower in my 15m² bathroom planned on the ground floor in the “guest WC” :D, that’s how it’ll probably end up!

Besides, it’s not really practical, since the clothes etc. are all upstairs in the bedroom. Of course, you could do it and shower at the same time. I totally understand that. Honestly, I can’t say now whether it’s good or bad that we’re not doing it. We decided against it. Although we are thinking about the future, the other reasons against a shower outweigh. Thanks again for the comment! Suggestions are very important to us so we can decide what might still make sense and what doesn’t :)

PS: There’s still about a 50% chance that we won’t get a teenage girl, but an easygoing boy :D

The signs of the times are more like that now, so it doesn't really make a difference anymore. Back in our day, no one would have stood in front of the mirror at an angle in their profile but always head-on, to then confidently conclude after 5 seconds: Fits!
As soon as you start dealing with the topic of beauty products, you will see that this market for men is exploding... I had already mentioned it once, a second shower in the house, even if it were in the basement, I would absolutely make sure to provide! Life is not that predictable, many things can still be changed later but water/sewage is rather difficult.
I am 101% with on this, not least because you really plan your project long-term; that corner will be found in the house. You will think of me or this missing feature at some point...
