All right. I am neither offended nor do I reject other opinions or tastes. I just wanted to save you from the mistake of sugarcoating everything for yourself. Because if you are honest with yourself, no one likes to go to the basement fully loaded with crates of drinks or laundry baskets (strollers aside :p). Because that doesn’t keep you fit, it leads to such bad postures that it’s complete crap for the spine... especially with your quarter-turn staircase!

Let that be my concern, I can manage to get down the 14 steps to the cellar and put the crate down there :)

When I think about how far and how often my dad had to carry stuff... You don’t want to know. But then you also get the advantages. You can't put 4 crates of beer and 10 other boxes into your pantry :) But as I said, to each their own!
And whether I carry the laundry basket down another floor (when I’m already coming from upstairs) instead of to the "laundry room" which, for people without a cellar, is somewhere on the ground floor... honestly :D

I could now bring up a current societal "problem"... but I won’t, because otherwise there’d be death-level hate :D

Live and let live <3

But that’s exactly what I mean. I have a completely different attitude than you, so the "mistakes" as you call them, aren’t mistakes for us :)

I'll leave that to be your concern anyway...
And is your father happy with the - as you yourself say - hauling? Probably, because it keeps him fit, right? ;)
You're right. In addition to the boxes you listed, there's still room in my pantry for a freezer, a long shelf, and a second refrigerator

A basement is, as mentioned before, a great thing for storage, technology, workshop, etc.
But when I think about how often I would have to go down there for things I need/do daily and for which my wife sends me, I wouldn't be happy now at 35 and certainly not at 70.
But go ahead... I wish you lots of luck and fun with your single-family house

I always only take two bottles of water from the basement so that I have to go down for a third one extra. Before I let my little ailments become handicaps, I prefer to keep fit unnecessarily ;-)
How fortunate that I am not building – otherwise I would probably get quite a stormy backlash here for wanting to stick to my current distribution of apartment, car garage, and basement substitute garage spread across half the village :)

If you ask acquaintances, the proportion of those who are into the building topic is usually significantly lower than here. Of ten strangers in a forum, two – in the finance section in my perception rather four – use the anonymity to "lay it on thick." And wasn’t it so that you also made sure your floor plan was safely tucked away before we got to see it here?

My floor plan was never up for discussion because my house was already almost built. If I am sure about the floor plan, I don’t need to post anything here. But that apparently wasn’t the case with the TS ;)
