Hi,
I can only agree with the statements from Rick2018.
A life without a robotic lawn mower is possible, but pointless....!
There is nothing more relaxing than watching the robot at work while the neighbors struggle with their lawnmowers.... Otherwise, I would have to mow at least twice a week, each time taking 1.5 hours. So the robot gives me 3 hours of free time every week!
We have a Gardena smart sileno. It is designed for 1000 sqm, but it would have to run 24/7 for that.
So that our children can play peacefully in the garden and spread their toys around, and we don’t disturb anyone at night (hedgehogs and others rarely get injured by such a robot, but they are disturbed while foraging, which doesn’t have to happen), I decided it should not run much more than 6 hours a day.
We have 250 sqm of lawn, which fits quite well.
Why Gardena?
[*]Underneath it is a Husqvarna, most parts even have only a Husqvarna part number.
[*]Very quiet. In this residential area, several Bosch and Worx are also in use, which are noticeably louder.
[*]At that time, it was unbeatable cheap through the Hornbach price guarantee....
I first thought this Smart Gateway was just a nice gimmick, but today I would definitely always buy it along. It simply has the advantage that you can much more comfortably set the running times via the app, you can even send it back to its station during mowing via app (of course both can also be done directly on the device, but that is much more complicated), and you get error messages directly on your phone. “Otto” runs completely smoothly for us, but about 1-2 times a year it does get stuck, because the lawn is totally soaked from rain, or it gets hung up on some forgotten children’s toy. Then the message is worth gold.
Important regarding children and children’s toys on the lawn. Yes, the unit has various safety features but don’t rely on them. Otto has already run over some flat toys and shredded them into granules. It only reliably stops at objects that are at least 10 cm high. I would not let very small children be on the lawn while mowing.
Best regards,
Andreas
