The lawn mowing robot is on – which one do you use and what do you say about it?

Hello

I haven’t read the entire thread, so I’m not sure if the topic has already been addressed:
lawn mowers and hedgehogs. You hear the most absurd things. Is a lawn mower really dangerous for hedgehogs? I don’t have a lawn mower (yet), but I’m considering buying one.
Are they inherently dangerous to hedgehogs, or only certain models, or is that a myth?

Not dangerous if enough sensors/technology are installed. Alternatively, have it mow during the day. Nothing happens with the small blades anyway.

Finally managed to install our Work M700 after I bought it at New Year 2020. Installing it on our lawn area (~250m²) took about 2 evenings. Optimizing the boundary wire I have done over 3-4 evenings now. I am very satisfied. Especially the edge mowing function is great for mowing close to objects.

The Robi also has to handle an incline to our upper lawn area. I had to optimize the access slightly there. But now I am glad not to have to mow anymore.

This is definitely a problem in principle. When I see with what force our Gardena Sileno drives against obstacles… a hedgehog doesn’t run away, but curls up. If our Luna were to hit it, I would suspect "good night hedgehog." We have the Sileno Smart. On the one hand, you can set your own schedules, so outside of twilight, or you can use the Gardena-guided mowing plan, which is like an assistant that specifically points out that mowing during morning and evening twilight can endanger certain animals. We use this assistant. It knows when the sun rises and sets and runs only accordingly or after that, as we wish. We have declared two days as a break so the lawn can recover. Our lawn is about 300 sqm. Thanks to the assistant and the wish not to run in the dark, it adjusts its operating times. Currently, five days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Yes, they are dangerous for hedgehogs. A friend of mine is involved with a hedgehog rescue center. Almost daily, there are pictures of hedgehogs whose faces have been shredded by the mowing robots because people insist on running the machines in the evening. So always make sure that the device never operates at dusk or in the dark.

Hello

Ok, then I will pay attention to that.
Are there models that have some kind of "hedgehog protection" built in?
