The lawn mowing robot is on – which one do you use and what do you say about it?

Glad that everything works. Slight night frost is not a problem. Currently, the grass is not really growing much yet. Better to turn it off again and leave Luna in the garage for another 2-3 weeks. Please keep the station plugged in. Due to the warming of the components, it can stay outside without any problems. We no longer dismantle stations...

I have already tried several times unsuccessfully to deal with the topic of [Mähroboter]. Maybe someone has a tip. We have so many beds and outbuildings and paved areas, etc., but I estimate the mowing area to be about 350-400 m2. But because of the beds and individual areas, everything is very fragmented. Accordingly, mowing by hand is also annoying. We also have an old cable mower, a horror. The area is flat. I can gladly make a sketch if that helps. Space for the charging station is not a problem, nor is electricity. We have children and cats and a small dog and definitely several hedgehogs. The thing can actually only run during the week from morning until early afternoon. Anyone have an idea?

Make a small sketch.
With only short mowing times and a complicated area, the mower must be larger.
It is also a question of how many guide wires you need. That also determines the mower selection.
Do you have mowing edges? Otherwise, grass strips will remain by walls.
Of course I could already give you a tip (Husqvarna 450X) that definitely works (3 guide wires, 5000m2) :p. But it doesn’t have to be that extreme.

For 400m2, complicated and less than 1/4 day mowing time, you will need a mower with at least 2000-3000 m2.
In other words, the largest Gardena or medium-sized Husqvarna (if you look at these two brands).
For €1,700 to €2,000 you will get what you need (internet prices, not RRP).

I might consider buying a good battery-powered mower with mulching function. Battery-powered mowers are actually pretty good now!

How many cm of mowing edge do the current mowing robots need? Do the Gardena / Husqvarna still drive back and forth and only reach every spot by chance? My vacuum robot creates a map and drives systematically -> I expect something like that from the mowing robot as well...

There are also models with GPS. Most of them drive chaotically. Tracks usually only work with simple garden shapes. Therefore, for example, Bosch lawn mowers usually have trouble handling complex gardens. Try putting your vacuum robot on the lawn or driveway. It will be interesting to see how it tries to create a map based on the sky;) It has no added value in the garden. Unless you absolutely need even tracks on your lawn. In that case, I recommend a reel mower. The cutting width of the edges varies slightly depending on the manufacturer and model.
