Are there any new experiences with this? We are currently in the final stages of planning the outdoor facilities.

Execution is supposed to begin in 2 weeks, which is why I am now inquiring about robotic mowers. It is certain that a robot will be purchased; the area to be mowed (yellow in the attachment) is approximately 460m². I have now decided on the Gardena R70li, as I do not consider the extra cost for the Husqvarna equivalent to be worth it.

I can still influence the boundaries around the house (terraces or concrete curb stones for splash protection). Since I want to do as little rework as possible, how should these edges be designed? Flush with the lawn or protruding?

What else should be considered if one could have an influence? For example, I have read that it is useful/important to design slopes in such a way that there is still a certain level area at the bottom up to the boundary wire. This prevents the mower from slipping over the wire.

Thank you very much!

I have no experience, but I think Stiftung Warentest has robotic lawn mowers in the next issue.

Hi,

I have been using the R70li since last week, bought in February during a 20% promotion and then an additional 12% at Bauhaus.
The "software" itself is very much from the 80s, but it's enough for a start.
For the installation, the Erfadok is probably worth a first read.

As far as I currently understand, the robot travels a maximum of 30cm beyond the boundary wire. It cuts up to about 10cm behind the wire. So you have to be careful with "walls" that there is 20cm of stone in front of them.

I can also recommend buying boundary wire directly. The 200m was just not quite enough for me, so I improvised with normal cable.

And I just read yesterday about the Smart Sileno City, depending on your preferences, it already has a bit of "Smarthome" included.

Flush. The operating manual (or the instructions for laying the wire) will give more details, namely how many cm distance to obstacles etc. should be maintained. With obstacles on the lawn (trees, swing, ...) you have to decide: grind out or let the mower drive against them.

Ours slid over the wire two or three times on flat ground (in one season). It can happen, especially if it is damp, obviously.

The mowers are generally grouped by their performance in m². At first, I wasn’t really aware that this always applies to round-the-clock operation and rather simple areas. In other words, if you have 500 m² of lawn and the mower should only run at night, you need a mower that can handle 1000 m². As an example. Also, especially intricate areas require an area surcharge.

After some research, I have now decided on the Worx Landroid S500i and ordered it today. 550€ is quite a statement. I'm already excited.

We have been using it since the end of April and are quite impressed so far.
We would buy it again and my parents next door liked it as well, so they quickly ordered the same one and are also very satisfied.
