Ground floor and router. Sort of. It has to be centrally located, then yes. But the phone and internet usually come through the utility room, which in our case is, for example, in the NW corner of the house. Solution. We have fiber optic. From the fiber optic modem, which hangs on the wall in the utility room, I run the signal via network cable to a devolo distributor, which now feeds it into the house's powerline circuit; it basically rides on the 230 volts via the socket and doesn’t interfere at all. In my office, which is completely central, I tap it and position the router there. The PC and the landline phone are connected to it via cable. The router creates a Wi-Fi that I now have strong at the TV, in the bedroom, and guest room, also good on the terrace. The whole setup delivers a real speed of 42,000 on a 50,000 contract according to various speed tests on Chip and similar sites. Enough for me. The router is the Telekom Speedport Smart, a super simple and capable device. Karsten
