And I would then, of course, play around a bit with pencil and paper and consider a 2/4 spiral staircase in the east.

WE are also discussing this... should she now register here in the forum so that she can participate in the discussion xD I sincerely apologize -.- The architect keeps talking about basement replacement, that's why I called it that. I also find your comment a bit pedantic. Not everyone knows all the terms and the differences when to call it one or the other... That the utility room is called "corridor" was a mistake by the architect, who forgot it in the rush and not because we necessarily want to call it corridor.

no matter what the room is called. It is so tiny that I wouldn't be surprised if [WA] and dryer end up in the bathroom

Basically a good suggestion. However, as mentioned, it will probably become more expensive if we move the carport forward. Then more excavation would be necessary and it would have to be supported with strip foundations. Besides, we actually liked the orientation of the living room facing the garden. Maybe we could plan a different staircase so that we can continue looking?

This is not pedantry because a room outside the thermal envelope does not offer the same as a storage room inside. And yes: often direct exchange of information is better than indirect.

Ok, let's assume the door will be removed. Unfortunately, I don't know the size of the individual appliances that will go into the utility room. What size would be appropriate?
