In principle a good suggestion. However, as mentioned, it will probably become more expensive if we move the carport forward. Then more excavation would be required and it would need to be supported with strip foundations.
I don't quite follow that. If you don't move it forward, you still have to do the same amount of excavation. Or do you have a building area where there is already a level surface? Does the slope of the hill change that dramatically?
Besides, we actually liked the orientation of the living room facing the garden.
Then swap the living room with the kitchen.
Maybe we could consider another staircase so we can see further ahead?
First place the house and outbuildings. Then refine the floor plan.
