Is the utility room sufficient as a storage room as well?

Do you have hobbies that require a lot of storage space or whose bags smell?

You could put it that way!! So, on the ground floor, we have our utility room where a shelf should also fit for the "smelly hobby bags" and matching shoes. Moreover, there is space under the stairs and a large double garage with storage possibilities. Upstairs, we have a laundry room for the washing machine + dryer and the option to hang laundry. We would NEVER get by with just the room on the ground floor where the house connections and heat pump are located!

Under the stairs a closed cloakroom, give the utility room a bit more space (-> leave a wall free for a built-in cupboard or kitchen unit), large cupboard in the office, second utility room upstairs, storage room on the ground floor and/or upstairs. Later garden shed, right next to the garage a storage room, fixed stairs to the attic... yes, you have to think about the planning yourself. As says: large living rooms sell better than storage rooms. We once had a floor plan discussion here, where the lady didn’t want to give up her 3 sqm freezer room so she could have a 45 sqm living room as her own. She then wanted to hang laundry there to dry... the discussion was very amusing [emoji6]

Yes, we also want to use the attic, but it will be a rather flat gable or hip roof (planning with 25°). Due to the low pitch and two full floors, there is not much space, but it should be enough. However, this is where items that are rarely needed, such as Christmas decorations, will go. I would prefer to also store the roof box there, for example, but given the small staircase, that is probably the maximum, since it is not that heavy.

There might be a closet for the vacuum cleaner, etc., on the upper floor. We are specifically considering food storage and whether the utility room might get too warm for that. How warm does it get in a utility room if the heat pump, ventilation system, and a battery are housed there (without washing machine and dryer)?

Using the stairs is also an idea, but rather as a small additional storage and for unruly children... before the wave of outrage starts, it is a reference to Harry Potter.
