Hm. Then I openly and honestly admit that I do not understand the hints. Maybe someone has to hit me over the head with the [Zaunpfahl] first.

We started from scratch and imposed no constraints regarding the floor plan, except for a maximum of 165-170 sqm. Unfortunately, that is the constraint of the bank.

Which clues have you even followed up on?

Apparently you did - you just exchanged the design constraints.

What does the bank care about square meters, as long as you create a solid lending value for the money?
By the way: a bank with me on the board or advisory board would rather finance more residential than fortress wall square meters (caliber 535!).

The bank is interested in that. After all, the house becomes more expensive with every square meter. But that is not meant to be the main point here.

Note: too expensive, too big, cube, all cramped, too many rooms that are not needed.

What did we do? Bedroom + dressing room + bathroom, children's bathroom, 2 children's rooms, 1 home office, large kitchen dining living area, utility room, hallway.

In the end, we were at 10.5^2 without having prescribed it. Our constraint comes from the west entrance and south garden and driveway.

I always appreciate your posts. But in this case, I probably need somewhat more concrete advice. If it's “only” the children's rooms being cramped, that's a flaw I could live with.

Hehe, maybe you can tell that to a man who doesn't have a smart woman

As I said, I am happier about understanding than about likes.

I'm slowly realizing where the problem lies: that the fence posts with which effective signals could be made to you have not yet been born.

Our original idea was 9 wide with an entrance and 11.5 long. According to the architect, that was not feasible. So at some point, we ended up with 10.5^2. I don't need to make things up here, but am interested in a constructive discussion.

I would appreciate it if you could tell me specifically what doesn't fit. I am not a professional (like many here who post a thread), so I have little architectural foresight or training. And last but not least, there is taste, which should be argued about even less.

It’s not like I don’t accept feedback or argue it to death.

Thank you very much.

If previously 9 x 13 (or 14 x 21) would have fit into the building envelope, why not now 9 x 11.5? Then follow the instructions given here (and usually linked by me in my case) for the planning process; and simply leave out the architecture – it almost takes care of itself if you don’t prevent it with unsuitable specifications. Which planning instructions of mine did you not understand? Even though professional experience would at least be helpful for that: as a layperson, you can still say at any point that you don’t like it as I suggest, but then also justify and make your alternative understandable. Otherwise, it simply looks as if you are just resistant to advice. Which of my theses are too much a matter of taste for you to at least accept them—for a handful of exercises just as a tool? P.S.: I am actually quite grateful if those being advised sometimes get stuck – you can also learn something from that (even if I usually imagine I’m not speaking Klingon).
