I had considered that, but so far I have failed due to lack of ideas. In my opinion, separating the living room and kitchen makes everything look even smaller and tighter. I would prefer an open-plan kitchen-living area, but I will play around with the idea.

Well, that's how it is now, but with the annoying layout of the bedroom. Or what would you change there?

Do you mean inside the utility room? Or somewhere completely different?

That will mean a bitter disappointment for the eldest; he always wanted to go into the attic...

You probably mean the depth of the hallway or could the width also be altered? That would be possible, but wouldn't the hallway then be too narrow?

I have also criticized the empty space in the open kitchen-living area, but on the other hand, it actually opens up the space more. At most, one could extend the wall and move the opening further down. I have to try that.

I originally thought about that too. On the other hand, there are enough examples of children who are still living at home in their mid/late 20s. And then?
A separate office is a must for various reasons (which I will not explain here). If necessary, it can be 1 sqm smaller.

[
No idea, I would have to ask, probably not cost-neutral.

Thanks already for the suggestions!

No, I gratefully take note of your recommendation. I just don’t see an affordable alternative falling from the sky right now. I already mentioned that we live in Berlin. That’s not as bad as Munich yet, but on the way there...

- 38-45°, not finally fixed yet.
- I calculated 25 cm. I don’t know exactly.
- No, room height should be max 2.5m.

Yes, everything you mentioned probably has to go in. I have now packed everything in and color-coded it. Everything fits. If there are any legally required safety distances, one has to check. How big is a water connection?

By the way, the BT guy suggested swapping the utility room and guest shower bathroom might help. What do you think? I don’t really believe that, as it's even smaller...

Thanks and regards

The plot ratio is probably already maxed out, so there’s nothing to be done there.

That’s why I wrote that the number of rooms is worthless if you can’t even meet together in the open living area because it’s too small.

You know, that will certainly lead to immense additional costs. I also don’t see any benefit in building another shower bathroom upstairs when there’s already a shower a stairway down.

That’s why I’m asking. The electrical box also requires an additional pit depth of 1.40 m (or similar).

That’s naturally difficult. But a big family planning without sufficient living space available doesn’t really make sense either.

You want/need to store things like that too.

I find ’s idea very sensible, to plan with separate living areas: kitchen and dining area as a family bustle open space, plus a TV room for relaxing.

What does fall depth mean? That there must be 1.40m of clearance in front of the electrical box?

Yes, but it can also be 1.20. I don't know the exact figure. The electrician must have a possibility to fall.

hm... so we have a semi-detached house with roughly (!) 6.5*11.5 internal dimensions. No basement, converted attic with 42° roof pitch.
Slope on the 1st floor from uh about 0.9m.
Heating (gas with solar) and ventilation are under the roof.
Utility room on the ground floor with connection for a specific utility, washing machine + dryer, supplies are there and things like sports gear, extra chairs for visitors, extension cords, cleaning stuff etc pp.
Upstairs under the roof is a small storage room for suitcases and a few moving boxes with sorted-out stuff etc.
There are 3 of us and we won’t have more.
Additionally, we have a double garage with an attached storage room, where all the tools and garden equipment are, supplies that need to be kept cool, bikes, etc.

If I now think about it, if we had 3 children - phew.
Yes, that would be doable, then we as parents would be under the roof, and each child would have 1 room on the 1st floor.
The toilet on the ground floor would have to be bigger because of a 2nd shower. But that would be doable, then we would change the stair’s direction and thus have space for the shower.

If the kitchen was open to the living area, definitely NO island would fit, but then there would be a big table in the transition area, sofa on the other side.

So again: YES, that would fit for us - but we would have to restrict ourselves a lot and would have no more space for our own things.
Currently we have a guest bed and the man’s PC and soldering stuff in the attic,
and I have my sewing and crafting stuff on the 1st floor. That would all have to go then.
And no, I wouldn’t be willing to do that.
We wanted to (also) build so that everyone has space for themselves. Of course, you can live without your own room, and some adults might be fine with a laptop on a folding table in the bedroom corner. Hm.

I don’t know how you feel about that

Where does the remaining technology go in the utility room?
- Water meter )which must be accessible)?
- Telephone connection + space for network technology?
- Standard size electrical panel?
