And why don’t you want to convert the roof into living space?
Well, the development plan states further regarding the sketch I posted earlier: 2.2.5. Maximum eaves and ridge height for gable and hip roofs: Eaves height: 5.7 m above top edge of basement floor Ridge height: 7.7 m above top edge of basement floor That means if you were to convert the roof, you could hardly stand upright, at best below the ridge. Therefore, the roof could either be used as storage space or be left open. Then the living area – in this small house – would appear somewhat larger. We had viewed a house in this weekend area, and there the ceiling height on the ground floor for the hallway and guest WC (to the right of the hallway) as well as a small study (to the left of the hallway) was normal, e.g., 2.40 or 2.50 m, and there was – only for this small area – a small storage space in the roof where you could not stand upright. In the rest of the ground floor – kitchen and living area – the roof was open and it looked great. We are considering that. However, we are still not sure whether we can do without the lost storage space.
