The additional cost for a hip roof largely depends on whether there will be any kind of use of the attic space that would require a carpenter-style roof frame. A roof serving purely as weather protection can be assembled as an inexpensive truss construction, which is why this method is so popular when the product is meant to be a substitute villa.

And why don’t you want to convert the roof into living space? The basement isn’t as usable as an attic, which is already available anyway.

80cm roof overhangs are allowed, I would also want to use them for heat protection/shading (very sunny location - the neighbors just moved in and are wondering how the heat will be in summer ...). Supposedly, photovoltaic modules also help against heating of the house. The sketch is only schematic. The slope is about 2 degrees. Over approximately 8 meters, there is a height difference of 28cm.

Well, the development plan states further regarding the sketch I posted earlier: 2.2.5. Maximum eaves and ridge height for gable and hip roofs: Eaves height: 5.7 m above top edge of basement floor Ridge height: 7.7 m above top edge of basement floor That means if you were to convert the roof, you could hardly stand upright, at best below the ridge. Therefore, the roof could either be used as storage space or be left open. Then the living area – in this small house – would appear somewhat larger. We had viewed a house in this weekend area, and there the ceiling height on the ground floor for the hallway and guest WC (to the right of the hallway) as well as a small study (to the left of the hallway) was normal, e.g., 2.40 or 2.50 m, and there was – only for this small area – a small storage space in the roof where you could not stand upright. In the rest of the ground floor – kitchen and living area – the roof was open and it looked great. We are considering that. However, we are still not sure whether we can do without the lost storage space.

Your photos of the neighbor are interesting in comparison to Musketier (floor plan 10.2x8.2). Do you happen to know the size of the floor plan of your neighbor?
