I live in Munich and therefore know many families who live in very tight spaces. Here, having your own house with a 200 sqm garden is a real luxury. So don’t let yourself go crazy! I would definitely skip the hallway in front of the stairs on the ground floor; without a soundproof door to the living room, it’s completely useless and just takes up space. So like Kaho suggested in #25, with storage space under the stairs. If the utility room remains on the right, you could also change the direction of the stairs and add the space under the stairs to the utility room. The hallway on the upper floor would then change. For the dining table, you could choose a space-saving bench along the wall or even a nice corner bench solution. I also like the suggestions from #25 for the upper and attic floors. I would put all the children upstairs to have my quiet zones for sleeping and working above. Obviously, one of you does not have regular sleeping hours. In a standard garden shed, many things can be stored, e.g. Christmas stuff and plastic suitcases.

"Weatherproof" is difficult. Weather also includes temperatures. Even if you built a shed with living space quality insulation, you would still have to heat it. Otherwise, the temperature fluctuations cause the humidity to settle like dew on your stored items, and then Mr. Mold feels invited. So textiles, leather, paper, etc. should not be stored unheated for a long time.

Wherever you place cupboards in the house, feel free to make them floor-to-ceiling or plan to put boxes with "stock items" on top. Spare bed linen, etc. can also be stored under the beds.

Porcelain, glass, plastic, stainless steel, objects made of these materials can also be stored in the shed.

Dear all,

thank you again for all the suggestions, comments, and criticism. Attached are new drafts from me, in which I have incorporated the proposals from kaho and ypg and have probably made things worse while trying to improve them.

Well, fire away!

EG, with swapped utility room and guest bathroom:

OG, with study/dressing room as a walkthrough room and sound buffer to the KiZ:

Variant OG, less space in the study/dressing room, more in the KiZ

DG, with boxed-in area under 1m

Best regards

Tolentino

That is worthless as long as you do not provide the information about the roof. What is the knee wall height and the roof pitch? The heating must go into the attic if possible. In addition, you have to say whether you want and can pay for the dormer(s).

What might help a bit, here it’s about every centimeter: Instead of walls, custom-fit cabinets. My parents-in-law have, for example, dining room-hallway children’s room-hallway And I’ve also seen it in [das Haus] or [Schöner Wohnen].

You also need to know the wall thickness to the neighbor. So to put it briefly, if it is that extremely tight, you need to know everything for a floor plan.
