Here’s a thought: your neighbors might not be 23 and 29, but 33 and 39... so under the same conditions, they have about 200,000 euros more equity and a smaller loan and also lower payments... yeah, and maybe at that age they don’t feel like staring at mineral concrete gravel for 5 more years... on top of that, they have calculated that doing the outdoor work themselves saves them 5,000 euros compared to the Romanian landscaper, given the private poor purchase prices... instead, they might prefer to work a few overtime hours rather than strain their backs...
I see it exactly the same way. We also didn’t feel like moving into a house and living the first years with compromises like a gravel yard, no patio furniture, no garage, or a field without a fence as a garden. If I move in somewhere and live there, I want it to be nice from the beginning and feel comfortable there.
For us, the question was also how people manage to save the money for the garage in the first years after moving in and then build it after five years or design the outdoor areas. Where does the money suddenly come from?
