I think you can handle the project well. If you earn very well for quite some time, then don’t put everything into the special repayment, but rather set aside a buffer for the [Elternzeit(en)]. If necessary, you can draw on it. Hopefully, there will still be enough for vacation!!

Well. As I said. That is a huge exception, the normal path is certainly not like that. But: Everyone basically has their professional future open to them, so do you have to be jealous if someone apparently chose the "better" path? Well.

The downside is that there is a definite end (experience level), and the job classification is also fixed. I am paid according to TV-L and will soon have completed 15 years, after which there is "only" the "inflation adjustment" negotiated in the collective bargaining rounds - also completely independent of professional performance... (I do not work in administration, of course I am not a civil servant either.)

Well, let's put it this way:

She does get this A13 salary "relatively" quickly, but it is not excessively good.

If someone has a great degree in mechanical engineering/engineering/business administration and directly has a chance to get a good position in the private sector, this salary can be achieved right at the start.

Of course, one must also consider the advantages of the public service...
