I actually have the prerequisites with my 4 cables from the roof. And I have also wired all the rooms star-shaped with LCD115. The difference between Quattro and Quad is quite confusing though. :-/

Hmm, well, I don't really see many more advantages than feeding into the LAN and then watching with the tablet.. I would still rely on both LAN and coax today. Death was already predicted before I built my house. Sat and Coax, however, are still alive.

Exactly because you don't know exactly where things are headed, I find the Sat over IP concept exciting. But you would have to calculate it for each individual case. It depends on how many TV devices etc. are to be operated.

If Sat remains, you can simply leave everything as it is.
If Sat disappears (because of streaming and co.), you simply disconnect the dish and can use the existing wiring. Coax would have to/could be removed and replaced by LAN. But that then costs more than going directly with LAN.

But precisely that can be watched quite wonderfully live or time-shifted on almost any device WITHOUT a TV connection.

The only difference is the (still) somewhat better quality of the satellite data and the shorter time delay.

I would rather say, if you want the private channels (for free), you still need satellite. Otherwise, it seems rather unnecessary to me.

That's exactly where the "live" aspect is failing us right now. The whole family really enjoys watching biathlon. But unfortunately, the media library app on my Samsung TV does not support live TV :-( And I have already had several shows that were not available in the media library afterwards (but that could also be due to the complicated ARD channel structure and the lousy search function in the TV app)

I will probably never understand why people don't spend a few hundred euros and install a dish on the wall/roof, or have it installed.

Instead, they prefer to bother themselves with half-baked solutions...

Just saying... just thinking out loud...
