and , now I really feel guilty, you put so much effort into this and I only get to respond between work, daycare, and getting up at 4 am, and less time to sketch... at least I already have the plot and construction money on millimeter paper and various sized "building bodies" as suggested here. I’m trying to contribute something here too!

Half-open with a sliding door without separate access from the hallway would be totally fine, just not this completely open kitchen

Raising the knee wall by one row of bricks (25cm) was listed at about €1600 in our construction budget, if that helps you as a comparison...

I also think that ours would be happy there, but one is always grateful for suggestions.
Usually, it’s visitors staying over the weekend for 1-2 nights, and every two weeks my dad stays for one night because he occasionally has appointments nearby; maybe I somewhat overestimated the frequency of visits on my part... or it suggested that the visits last longer more often...

Basement makes sense with a small plot
Building services, utility room, guest room can go downstairs
3rd bedroom? Home office that is used regularly?
Light well is not as bright as above-ground windows
Budget? Basement costs especially since the slope is completely missing

1600 euros you can soon adjust the floor area. Do you have a BU or GU?
With a GU you get comparison offers

In my aunt's house, they also have the guest room (inkl Bad mit Sauna) in the basement, and as a guest, I think it's really great that I sleep 2 floors away from the kids (even though I love the two of them :P) and the fact that it's dark (it's actually not really because of light wells and lamps) doesn't really bother me since I only stay there to sleep, the rest of the time I spend with the family I am visiting

From my side, this clearly has an economic motive: financially, because an almost zero slope emits no bicircending siren songs at all, accepting the gift of the slope; and technically, because a fully sunken basement requires accordingly generous slopes for lighting: Above all, the worker lacks optical distractions when looking against the light well wall, the workplace would have a call center atmosphere. Even for detention rooms, only light without a view is no longer permitted as new construction. Regarding visitors, I would still see that a little differently; my late grandmother used to say that visitors are always twice nice – when they come and when they leave. If a large mixed crowd had to be accommodated, I would still understand a guest basement, but that’s not the case here, and a partial basement of this size is the pinnacle of a Pyrrhic victory.
