There seems to be a field path between the properties at the back. You could put a gate there.

Otherwise, it has to be respected if someone prefers a less advantageous layout – even for me – because they are more conservative. There are simply people for whom a garden is just grass and nothing more. And you can’t do those people a favor with other structures. But that’s okay!

Personally, I wouldn’t necessarily have taken my house facade now, but the house layout on the property.
Inside there’s nothing to complain about; the optimal has emerged from it. At least more potential lies in it.
We can then enjoy Oaklands’ house on the triangular plot even more.

However, how to drive into a parking space that is 3 meters wide across is beyond me. You really have to be a pro.
Well, in 10 years you have to apply for permission for a second car anyway.

There are already first voices calling for cars to be completely abolished in cities. I am in favor.

But then please do it properly, including taxis, garbage trucks, politicians' limousines, and craftspersons' vehicles. Ambulances and fire trucks can just about be granted to you city dwellers, can't they?

Then you will be more occupied with yourselves and won't need to get so worked up about us country dwellers anymore.

Uh? Me now? City dweller? I don’t think you can live much more insignificant than I do.

But as soon as electric cars are finally affordable, I’ll buy one next. External sockets on the garage are already planned...

And everyone else should then also damn well buy one, starting around 40,000 upwards (for a small car) if they want/need to go into the city because there is no alternative or what? But we are getting off topic...

Well, it's really not like that. If I were to cry over every draft of mine that doesn't get built, I'd have a full agenda. I think Kerstin feels the same. Have you ever looked at how many of our ideas are floating around here?

The concerns are sincere and just because they come across a bit sharp, they are by no means malicious. We are on your side here. You only need a thick skin when the construction workers start getting on your nerves.

But I think you're handling it well. You have to consider that often a partner, after x years, gets rid of the car because it just sits around and both only use the favorite car. As a city dweller, I'd probably only use public transport. Never having to look for a parking space again – wonderful.
