Idea for the upper floor: One room spanning the entire width, then a room in the south. Leaves a remainder, either as a gallery or office/guest/storage

I’m not quite following now – but then the room in the south would be significantly smaller than the other one, right?

No, you are the one conveying that. You can't just split the west side and make the children's rooms bigger; the staircase on the plan-right is the boundary. That's why you lay one across the entire west side. Since I currently don't have Wi-Fi, I can't see the measurements. Yes, I remember you wanted to build 7 meters wide and a bit shorter for that? Then there's not much room for maneuver. Uh, 10 meters in length... okay. The other one can be placed with the long side on the south side. The bathroom stays. You want them bigger. You want them similar/the same. But now you can't just simply enlarge every room to 15 sqm with that measurement. Either you end up with 2 rooms with leftover space or you work with a diagonal wall. Possibly, you can still create 2 American wardrobes for both in an interlocking way, but a third room won't come out of it.

Sorry, to me that somehow sounds like "If I close my eyes tight, no one can see me."

You mean you let them protrude into the garden on the south side, where you want every meter for the children? And thus also ban the sun from the important garden?

yes.

Well, maybe you’ll get rid of one car. With those prices, you surely have good public transport connections?

You probably only allow one opinion, namely yours, right?

Your problem unfortunately doesn’t disappear if you close your eyes to it or insult me. But if it helps you, you can grumble a bit more. At least the thread had a purpose. Otherwise, I value Yvonne’s, Kerstin’s, and Thies’ opinions a lot, as well as a few others who deal with the matter – in case you’re really interested. Funny. Those are exactly the people whose advice you diligently ignore. So... We are just giving tips here and laying the cards on the table – even if they are ugly. In the end, it’s your house. If you two want 2 parking spaces in a row (are you even allowed to do that?) and build over the garden on the south side with a garage – go ahead!
