Thank you! Like almost everything on the house (except for the dimensions), it will be rather a low-budget project. Therefore, we intend to use the balcony railing with a handrail made of round aluminum pipe approximately 1m (above the finished floor level) high. About every 1.5m, the aluminum pipe will also be used as a post going downwards. In between, there will be a galvanized chain-link fence. However, it is not yet exactly decided how it will be executed. Chain-link only between the elements with lateral (additional) holding devices, or "twisted" into the posts. Mensch Meier, I hope you could understand it.

I understand it. Low budget solutions do not always have to be the worst. Be sure to think about it carefully beforehand. There are often great houses where the balcony railing monster solution ruins everything.

Top priority besides low costs is an airy feeling including good visibility. We are basing this on a fence from friends. They built it three years ago. It wasn’t exactly a low-budget project overall, but the fence was this simple solution. I will try to remember to take a picture during my next visit.

Further our ideas for terracing. A nice challenge on the slope.

Just a few more infos so you don’t have to scroll back too much. Almost a south-facing slope, children’s rooms (ages 4, 3, and 0) in the basement (level terrace), living/kitchen on the ground floor. I followed the 2m height difference lines for the terracing. As you can see, the slope doesn’t just go straight down but is also tilted sideways. For now, only the first two terraces are planned. The earthworks contractor is supposed to set 2m L-shaped stones here soon.

We would still design the edge of the first terrace angular, while the second one would rather follow the contour line.

The idea, if there’s some leftover from the mundane moolah, is a pool. Let’s assume 4x7m as given. Would you place it rather on terrace 1 (highest) or 2? I’m deliberately not writing our criteria yet.

Hello . First of all, congratulations on your beautiful project. I think it’s great to follow the progress.

My personal opinion regarding the pool question is that I would prefer terrace 2. One reason for this is that, in my eyes, it loosens up the area in front of the house a bit more. I think that if terraces 1 and 2 are nicely connected, then there shouldn’t be any problems sprinting into the house briefly if a towel was forgotten or something similar.

Best regards
