The line of thought was that in the original version many compromises had to be made, such as
- relocating the office to the upper floor
- removing direct house entrance from the garage
- smaller living area, etc.
to fulfill our wishes.
Of course, the stair design was a problem..
In this version, in my opinion, one is more flexible.
By the way, there will be no cost savings, but that was not the main focus.
However, these compromises would not be necessary with a modification of the original version either.
Instead of moving the office to the upper floor, you could also place the washing + drying upstairs. Preferably in a corner of the house (e.g. southeast) and adjacent to the bathroom, and not next to the children's room because of the noise.
Garage on the southeast side of the house with access, for example, through the utility room or pantry would still be possible.
A smaller living area would not be mandatory either, as long as no building window and no budget set a limit, you can add a few square meters anywhere.
If these extra square meters for the upper floor would be hindering or unnecessary, you could also enlarge the ground floor living area with a small projection. This would then optionally become a balcony on the upper floor or get a simple small roof.
