It's less about the terrace, it's about capturing the sensory light through windows into the living spaces.

I think it is also about the terrace. My aunt had a purely north-facing garden and the terrace about 25m away from the house. You always have to carry everything from the kitchen, if you forget the sugar or the milk, you have to walk another 50m. Of course, there are plots where it can't be done differently, but if it is possible, I would avoid it.

In this specific case, however, due to the gardens and relatively large distances to the other houses in the west, an orientation to the west is also an option. Terrace then in the west, possibly around the corner to the north (sun on the terrace from 12 o’clock, but also shady spots during the midday sun, evening sun in the northern part).

If the terrace in the north garden is set back far enough to still get southern sun behind the house, then you do have to carry the coffee cups "across the entire property." I would therefore prefer more western orientation as well, which in my opinion would be easier to achieve with a detached garage.

Yes, certainly! But it follows from the floor plan design... The terrace is often a variable and, since it is seasonal, should somewhat subordinate itself to the house.

I do not like the distribution of the windows/ French doors

Can you please explain this? I am currently trying to learn a lot about symmetry and asymmetry in house construction. You seem to know quite a bit about it.

I don't feel so confined in air spaces. In my opinion, air spaces give a house spaciousness. However, we will probably not have an air space in our new house because the house might be too small for that. Let's see what the architect thinks.
