I think that in the end the room will be used as a normal utility room, housing the washing machine, dryer, storage options for cleaning supplies, iron, sink, etc.

Something like this:

But the location of the utility room on the floor plan is not unusual, is it? Of course, one can argue about the size of the outbuilding. Possibly also reduce the floor area a bit and extend the double garage with a partition wall for bicycles, etc...

*lol yes, my dream was also a house like in "schöner Wohnen". But with first a husband and then a child, that was unfortunately not possible. At the moment, it looks more like a seek-and-find picture.

Anyway, such an ironing room will probably not be used anymore as soon as there is a toddler, because it is probably not suitable for playing and it is too far away to supervise.

Does anyone have an idea how to design the windows with the new "plan" in the living/dining room? I quickly sketched in existing furniture (sofa, wall unit, etc.) and realized that not that many windows (=light) can actually come in. Since the room is only 4m wide and our sofa is 3.20m, it also cannot be placed inside the room..

Then take a look at this ... with that, you won’t get to the children’s side anymore.

why doesn't that fit, if I mirror it, of course the entire upper floor...

It somehow doesn't really move forward here, that's the feeling I have.

Here is a proposal with the same floor area and west-facing sun:

Advantages:
- large bright kitchen with space for family and friends
- pantry directly adjacent to the kitchen
- laundry chute possible with direct access to the laundry area
- bright children's rooms with southern sun
- bright office
- bicycle shed directly planned
- over 7m of storage space in the dressing room
- large bathroom accessible to all
