You both want to be carried out dead from the house on a stretcher at the same time, but rigidly exclude the idea of life events that would require a second toilet. Kind of funny.

That is definitely not what is meant. We are anything but boastful people. It was simply a cost item we want to save and consider a luxury. My wife and I are not used to it any other way. Other things are more important to us.

Then I wish good luck with feasibility. You can wish anything off limits, but here the budget says something different – namely: that you have to save somewhere else. Giving up sanitary redundancy alone will not quite be enough. Sure. People who collect divorce and other distressed-sale houses like small pensioners collect deposit bottles have to be left something. They’re happy about every thousand it gets cheaper because someone planned ignoring resale value again. I’m just imagining someone watching all the movies in their home theater throughout their life that feature someone building a house for the humorous idea of their funeral guests lining up like a snake for the only toilet. At least I trust Finnish directing professors to seriously establish that as an independent genre at their art academy *LOL*

The last generations before us lived with one toilet. Rumor has it that they apparently survived.

Yes, we live in the year 2022. But do I have to do something just because it’s done that way today? It’s not important to us. I have understood the position regarding the second toilet and also see that it can increase the resale value and bring some comfort. We don’t need it, and with that, I would like to close the topic of a second toilet.

We are now focusing on reducing the space and the orientation of the rooms. We have already received very good input here that we are now trying to implement.

Thanks for the feedback anyway. My counterargument is not meant to be rude.

Will be included in the second draft.

We are aware of that.

You can read that on some pages about construction.

Because there the morning sun rays greet you and because the southwest side now, according to the new draft as suggested by you, fills the entire living area.

I read that here via the search function. We want 2.7 m room height after finishing. Windows always as high as possible, so that light can come in. Since we want roller shutters, we need space for them. That offers 30-40 cm. Then 35 was the middle. If you want to go higher, feel free to go higher.

We are trying to part with it and are working on the new draft. Thanks for the sketch by the way. It already looks very sensible there.

More space is always nicer, since it is a quiet area and the northwest side has a view. But the sun from the south is an argument :)

Our persistence isn't either. Don't forget that you are not in some taste-opinion-exchange support group of people who haven't built yet, but also dealing with some experienced builders. For example, I myself am a passionate renter, but with four decades of construction planning under my belt (and not retired yet), many regular discussants have already built, and some are doing it a second time now. Home financiers and similar folks with knowledge about slow movers in the housing market are also found here. So this is by no means about philosophical conversion, but about the hard business of financial self-destruction through the construction of houses that only please the owner. At the latest when you, as a retiree, apply for a loan, a *ahem* "special" property also becomes relevant for creditworthiness, and an additional home theater living room won't save you then ;-)
