@ all: Regarding land: in Rhein-Main it is unfortunately very harsh. There is hardly anything left because, for example, due to the airport, nothing new is being developed/reallocated. There are building gaps, but either they are not sold with the hope of prices rising even further or you pay a lot! In the area, land is traded at 1000-1200€ per sqm. Now you can imagine how much the house may cost. The fundamental discussion about who should even be able to afford this is unnecessary. We swallow the bitter pill because we want to live here. Moving out is out of the question (but even then, you have to drive a long way until it becomes noticeably cheaper). Just for classification to understand what parameters you have to assume here. Of course, if your idea/basis (I don’t mean this in a bad way) is 1000sqm of land and then a single-family house, it is simply unimaginable. That does not exist! (okay, maybe if you had a few million to spare) Of course, it is incredible for the price, but what alternatives are there?
