We are completely digressing here. I would say, I will get back to you when I find out something new regarding the earthworks.

Maybe a Nolte will do as well, they're not that bad either...

Maybe a mod could move the kitchen discussion to its own thread? I find the discussion very interesting right now, as we are currently in the kitchen planning phase and were initially overwhelmed by the "moon prices."

No idea what a Häcker kitchen is, but Ikea offers a 25-year warranty. Does Häcker do that too?

My regular carpenter happened to be there when the IKEA kitchen was delivered. Of course, he refused to assemble the kitchen (and he shouldn’t have), but afterwards he admitted with a grin that the fittings IKEA uses are pretty good and absolutely top quality. He even occasionally buys and installs fittings from IKEA...

But now to the point and some straight talk:
Either you have already ordered the kitchen and it’s too late anyway or your wife has dreamed of this kitchen her whole life and will throw a fit if you cancel it now or one of us two is slow-witted:

If your financial situation is as you describe it, you won’t need your 15k€ kitchen because your financing will collapse beforehand and the house will go to the bank.
You can choose to save where possible and thus make the kitchen cheaper, but still have a house afterwards, or insist on dreams like granite countertops at the risk of ending up with no house and a lot of debt.

Regards,
Andreas

Should I become sternly Nordic? Preferably 305. First, you whine that the earthworks are getting out of control, the bank won't release any more funds, and you've already furnished sparingly. Then, when serious suggestions are made because you want to contribute something to avoid a fiasco, it's can't be done, won't help, we don't have that anyway... and then a fitted kitchen appears out of the hat at the price of a VW Polo with alloy wheels. Back down to earth, Mr. Client!

You currently can't even afford a few loads of gravel but later want a Häcker kitchen - sorry, that doesn't fit together. If a construction budget is so tight that there isn't even 10 or 20k in extra funds, then you couldn't afford this project from the very beginning.
