Hello kbt09
So we have now looked at your idea.
We know this variant with the staircase, it’s the same in our house. And that’s the problem, we simply want to have a straight staircase. Surely it’s also partly because we don’t want to build the same thing again. We will see about extending the room upstairs outward so that it simultaneously creates a roof for the front door and thus compensates for the loss caused by lengthening the staircase.
The utility room area simply doesn’t fit from our current experience because it is too small (currently 12 sqm) for an ironing corner, washing machine, dryer, and technology, which is why it’s so important for us to have a separate house technology room and to separate it from the utility room.
We find the small windows in the kitchen great.
So there are good ideas there, but we also have to honestly say we like our variant better and will see if we can make it work that way.
Regarding our idea: A guest WC without a window is certainly not the ideal solution, but we have done it so so so often and it is simply the "lesser" evil, as long as everything else fits.
We draw on our experiences and wishes from our construction 5 years ago. And it is certainly true that space in the utility room is not used very well, but we simply need the space in that form and it is also bright there because the entire ceiling on the ground floor has been specially lowered in order to mount spotlights in most rooms.
