I had noted this down once:

Step measure = 2x rise + 1x tread - IDEAL: 63 cm ... results, for example, with 19.1 rise and 24 tread = 62.2
Comfort = tread - rise - IDEAL: 12 cm ... results, for example, with 19.1 rise and 24 tread = 24 - 19.1 = 4.9
Safety = tread + rise - IDEAL: 46 cm ... results, for example, with 19.1 rise and 24 tread = 19.1 + 24 = 43.1

As you can see, the step measure is just barely missed, but the formulas for safety and especially comfort are quite far off.

We are both over 185 and our eldest, at 11, is already almost 170.

kbt09 thank you very much for this formula, it helps to get a good idea of everything. I will do some research and, as I said, bring it up with the builder at the next meeting.

But I don’t want to get too hung up on the stairs but rather hear what else can be found, negative as well as positive.

Happy Easter and not such a stressful shopping day today...

16/29...

Viebrockhaus is a good example of basement stair level. After the house park tour, my thighs hurt so much that I refused to go upstairs in the semi-detached house.

Well, but if the staircase doesn’t fit, meaning it becomes longer and takes up more space, then quite a few other things in the floor plan also have to be adjusted.

Yes, I also found climbing the stairs in the park very, very exhausting. But well - that way you add 2 m² more to the plan for the same price. However, I would never save on that. I would definitely not recommend more than an 18% incline. And exactly there kbt is right - if the stairs don’t fit, you risk having to scrap the entire floor plan.

I just measured in the plans. There would still be 30 cm at the top, then we would be at 1.10 m in front of the stairs, or the wall at the top can be pushed back a bit, but I think we will then change something at the wardrobe or study entrance below to extend it there because there is enough space from the start there.
