Do you need LAN cables in the garage?

Not enough!
And forget repeaters in new buildings!
Otherwise, you'll soon be browsing various forums wondering why a Fritzbox in the house is not enough…

I would have it laid precisely for that reason alone, since no one can tell you for which purposes you might still need it in a few years. And in the end, the 500€ is nothing compared to a later installation afterwards.

What some people let uninspired craftsmen charge for this amount of money is really fascinating.

Concerns are justified, it won’t work.

Google what patch panels cost. In this case, they are not 20 euros. He should just lay the cables, put keystones on, and you screw the panel onto the wall yourself.
Oh, and: run LAN to the garage and garden and don’t think twice about it! I’m just surprised that in a house you have to discuss such amounts for so long. Then just eat out one less time a month.

The decision has been made

at least 1 LAN cable will go into the garage

I know what a patch panel costs, almost nothing.
We could easily terminate the patch panel ourselves, but the electrician insists that he puts the patch panel or keystone on so that he can properly test the cable.

So my question to you. We currently have 10 LAN cables distributed in the house.

Would you have only simplex LAN installed in the garage and in the attic behind the PC (laptop) (where you can hide a switch if you need more LAN) to save ports (and thus patch panel costs)?

In the attic, in the other corner of the room (which is separated by 2 floor-to-ceiling windows), we already have Cat duplex cables laid

So should we have 1x duplex and 1x simplex installed in the attic to save ports?

What about the bedroom, do you really need LAN there? I can’t really imagine needing LAN there (there is no TV in the bedroom) WiFi is enough in the bedroom

Cable into the garage... I would never argue about that. You won’t have any fun with a repeater there. For the garden, the repeater might be enough, but don’t expect any magical WLAN worlds. These things tend to crap out.
My father stubbornly filled his house with repeaters for years because he refused to move the router up from the basement.
What can I say, the reception in the living room was so-so, barely there in the kids' room upstairs. On top of that, those damn things kept freezing.

So it might be enough for the garden, but never for the garage.
