Do you need LAN cables in the garage?

Yes, the developer has certainly had the static calculations done once and that's why he does not allow such special requests.

We are getting triple-glazed windows and a KfW55 house.

So we should definitely provide at least 1 cat cable to be able to retrofit an access point in the garden in case of emergency?

So basically, when choosing LAN sockets: everywhere a fixed device needs internet, a LAN socket goes there. So TV, cameras (which are already firmly planned), PCs, consoles, refrigerator, ... Everything that is mobile goes on WiFi. This way you distribute the consumers cleanly over the 2 different data highways. As for the BU's excuses ... a small hole for a cable through the ceiling is not necessarily a special request. Just talk to your electrician, he usually does that quickly.

I have already talked with the developer and the electrician

The electrician doesn't do it quickly either, because otherwise he would get trouble from the developer. The issue with ceiling access points is unfortunately settled, there's nothing to change about that. Everything beyond the standard is special requests (the standard included 0 Cat cables)

We have to place the APs on shelves and lowboards.

Yes, we have LAN sockets planned everywhere where fixed devices are located,

TV, consoles, receivers, Android TV boxes, PC (although it's a laptop, we will still lay cables), consoles, printers, access points

No cameras are planned

Why does the refrigerator need LAN?

Then place the LAN outlet on a free wall and use an In-Wall Access Point (e.g. Unifi UAP-AC-IW). This also has a LAN port where another device could be connected via cable. The electrician does not need to lay the cable either. Empty conduits would have been enough. You can quickly and easily pull and terminate the cables yourself. For the access point, a deep box is best. Do not install a LAN socket at all but only a keystone module on the installation cable, a short patch cable to the access point, and simply install the access point above it.

The argument regarding "problems with statics" because of a few small holes is, of course, far-fetched. It's quite astonishing that those responsible don't find themselves ridiculous...

The only possible argument that could be accepted depending on the construction method is that, depending on the "type of holes," an insulation layer might possibly be damaged and thus, for example, moisture could penetrate.

In your case, you can simply screw the access point to the wall....

I have already dealt with wall access points but we simply do not find them nice at all when mounted high on the wall.

If they hang high on the wall, then the LAN ports are also unnecessary.

Therefore, we just want to put APs on the cabinet or lowboard (even if it is not the optimal option but we also don’t need high-speed internet in every single corner).

So you would provide at least 1 LAN cable in the garage?
