Do you need LAN cables in the garage?

Ask the electrician what he means by proper testing? So he’ll give you a test report according to DIN? You don’t really believe that yourself. They’re just messing with you. Sorry. Ask him if he installs empty conduits or not. So that the cables are replaceable. What bend radii he uses, etc. He should just pull the cables in for you (CAT7 over 1500MHz) and you handle the termination on the patch panel and the keystones. If he doesn’t want to, have the empty conduits installed and pull the cables yourselves. You’re building your house! You have to live with it. You’re spending a lot of money on it. So do your own thing and don’t knowingly create problems for yourself (for a lot of extra money) just because one of the tradesmen can’t be bothered.

Two more pages and we’ll do crowdfunding to raise the 500€ for the duplex in the garage. Slowly, this topic can no longer be taken seriously here.

sorry - I’m out of the digression here. :D

@ Yes, we will now also install at least Simplex in the garage

the only question left is whether Simplex or Duplex??

He is checking whether the cable is properly connected and not damaged
Yes, the Cat and Sat cables will be laid interchangeably in the conduit
at least CAT7 will also be installed

They do the check so that there are no discussions later if something doesn’t work

Conduits, as said, unfortunately not possible.

Yes, that is just the compromise when building with a developer. (but for that we found a house in a good location and for our budget)

What speaks against simply taking the drill in hand after moving in and drilling through the partition wall? That's how you would do it in an existing building with the same floor plan. Then seal the hole. I would not pay 500€ for a plug in the garage.

just ask him how he "tests". Does he have a) a Fluke DSP or equivalent 5-10,000€ measuring device that can measure and log 1000MHz or b) a "10€ testing device" which only checks the 1:1 wiring for continuity? If he chooses option (b) he might as well save himself the trouble. Then he is not testing attenuation caused by squeezing or bending, split pairs, etc. And you are not sure if 1Gbit/s or 10Gbit/s will really run without interference in practical operation afterwards.

Can I ask at the next opportunity

but it doesn’t really matter anyway, he won’t lower his price for the patch panel

He just offered us an alternative instead of a patch panel that he puts keystones everywhere and we then simply go directly from the switch to the keystones, it’s a bit cheaper 10 ports for 250€

He gave the garage CAT Duplex at internal prices (as a courtesy) 220€ for Duplex

We will also have CAT Duplex installed in the garage.

Do we definitely need LAN in the bedroom? I can’t think of a use case right now

The WLAN access point will go in the children’s room on the same floor
