Why building a house almost always costs more than calculated

No, what you mean is an above-ground hydrant, but there is also a below-ground hydrant.
Below-ground hydrants require less maintenance and are frost-resistant. In new development areas, there should actually only be BGH.

The sign for the underground hydrant is, however, red-bordered. I(!) would (rather) not tamper with one of those. This was about blue signs (valve signs).

Nevertheless, thanks, I didn't know the term that way!

But if you plan for a really long time and cover all possibilities, it might be possible to orient yourself to the values, right?

So for us, nothing is more expensive than planned - or only within a range that balances out through the cash discount savings.

But we also obtained cost estimates for all trades beforehand - individual contracts.
Beforehand = before the credit amount was determined.
We had a rough framework and then rounded up a bit after the offers, and that was fine.
And that fit perfectly, despite some items we hadn’t considered beforehand. Things like a foundation earthing conductor, grid in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, etc. – just peanuts.
On the other hand, other things were included that others only do 2 years later, like complete paving and terrace with a roof, etc.

I think if you deal with it properly beforehand, you can estimate it quite well and don’t have such big surprise items that you’d need additional financing.

I don’t count things like insolvent companies or botched work that needs to be corrected...

Ps I hope I didn’t repeat myself but by now we’re only waiting for 2 final invoices, so I know it for sure.

We also had offers for almost everything beforehand, but unfortunately each was between 5 and 50% more expensive. In total, that was about 50,000 euros more. However, we had a buffer and compensated quite a bit through [EL]. In the end, we were absolutely on target.

We stayed within the set limits. Gardening became more expensive, about 10,000, because we wanted it to be a bit more stylish after all. We hadn't considered the 1200 for pleated blinds, but there was a tile credit for that, since we did not use the 25 per sqm gross. Everything else remained on plan, sometimes a few euros more here, less there. It balanced out. We worked with fixed prices through the general contractor, stayed resistant to all sample temptations. What we wanted to sample was already included in the plan, staircase instead of floor hatch, extra roof window Velux or Roto, prefabricated garage, better front door. What was not included there we don't need either.
