Good evening and thank you for your comments,
I am also not very happy with the shape of the house; that is ultimately due to the plot. I actually really wanted an L-shaped staircase, for example 3 steps - landing - 12 steps. This could not be realized due to the building length or would have resulted in unacceptable compromises for me. The limited space in the hallway downstairs and the lack of a storage room upstairs is also the main criticism I have of the floor plan; however, I hope that we can find a usable, small solution under the stairs.
Yvonne, do you really think the children's rooms could become too dark? I hoped that the large double-leaf windows would let in enough light overall. The size of the rooms is certainly considerable, and that is intentional. But if I insert a room in between, it becomes cramped again. I do not want a dormer for "stylistic" reasons. I would have liked a Frisian gable, but that is supposed to cost nearly 30,000 :D Why do you always have to make compromises when building a house? ;)
We only have one terrace door. We do not like floor-to-ceiling windows.
Where would you place the stairs to the "attic"? This is intended purely as a storage room. Would a "normal" staircase still be possible from the upper hallway, or only one of those "folding devices" that is recessed into the ceiling?
