We bought a Neato Botvac 75. For hard floors, I would additionally recommend the allergy brush; after that, the device is acceptable for us in terms of noise.

For these reasons, we bought the device:

[*]The device scans the room with a laser during the first run and then drives in "tracks" rather than randomly
[*]The device automatically detects doors and cleans the rooms one after another
    [*]The device detects our stairs
    [*]The device can be programmed
[*]Vorwerk uses the device only with a different brush The device from Neato is, however, significantly cheaper than the Kobold.

That is not correct, Vorwerk has changed some other details as well, for example the battery technology.

Hm ok I didn’t know that. But I have to admit that the Amazon bargain from back then just under €400 probably makes up for the possibly worse battery

You can definitely replace the (smaller compared to the Vorwerk Li-ion battery) NiMH battery for that. However, there are still 5-6 other things that are different. But I think you can be satisfied with the bot as well

I actually have the Neato in the final selection. The Vorwerk runs great on carpet in the upper floor. I was not so impressed on the tiles and especially the vinyl. However, I don't want a bot that drives haphazardly without a plan.

I have such a random vacuum upstairs at my place because it handles the geometry of the rooms and the children's stuff better. It is just as clean as downstairs with the intelligent one.
