Stop or pause house construction? Costs too high

Where I advocate not saving too much on things that are difficult or costly to renew later. This includes, for example, floor coverings and windows.

Are floor coverings hard to renew? I would have thought more of things like controlled residential ventilation, roller shutters, KNX, empty conduits for cables, chimney :cool:

One problem might be that a lot of inspiration for floor plans and must-haves is taken from the USA or Scandinavia, where traditionally buildings are much larger and much cheaper.

I’m not going to tear out 100 sqm of fully installed tiles and laminate. Unless I’m half crazy and masochistic.

But it is still easier to carry out than other things. I would not necessarily consider tiles too difficult to replace. Elaborate, yes...

Uh, I know some people who are building or have built in the WOB/GF area. A lot of money is sometimes poured into the equipment, true to the motto "whatever it costs." With some, you can save five-figure amounts and more without restricting comfort. Don't get me wrong, if you can afford to order fittings from Italy, you should do so. The parts are really very beautiful. But something like that sets the standard bar extremely high.

Somewhere the high estimate has to come from. YPG had offered the floor plan and the "normal" equipment has to be provided by the TE themselves.

I can confirm that to . Around here, people like to show off what they have. Many don’t want to fall short compared to their neighbor, acquaintances, or colleagues and set the supposed standard quite high. It really has to be tiles or roof shingles from Italy, because they know someone who has the same. The financing is stretched to the limit here and every paid overtime hour is factored in to meet the "standard." You wouldn’t believe how many people here get really anxious as soon as they can’t do as many paid overtime hours over a longer period as planned.
