Stop or pause house construction? Costs too high

I would have preferred my ceramic cooktop anyway; back then it was state-of-the-art and my krautnudeln on it were world class.

No, I’m actually not. But by now I just prefer things that simply work, although "modest" somehow sounds cooler :D. Currently, for example, the outdoor area and the facade etc. are being fixed up. Throughout all of this, our focus is especially on simpler feasibility and in this area then as nice as possible for us. Yesterday I had the Siemens customer service at the house, very nice but expensive. If the cooktop had been broken, I would definitely have bought a plain ceramic cooktop.
Yes, you recognize it correctly, I am full of virtue and modesty. My only flaw is that I sometimes lie a little.

You can create something beautiful from almost any material (less so by me) and it absolutely does not have to be the expensive material; often imagination is enough. I have seen some really great examples of this in the forum, without expensive frills.
We have now also decided, especially for cost reasons, on a "light" water-bound path surface; large-scale concrete paving in the entrance/driveway area would not have pleased us and would be more expensive; under the carport it is okay for us though.
What often surprises me more is the weighting, for example, towards the topic of cars or high-tech and less towards equally valuable furnishings. Just because it surprises me or I now like it differently does not mean that the other is worse because of that. For me, it simply would no longer be an option; for me the value of the luxury car would be inside the house, there where I live.

Who treats themselves to something special, enjoys it and appreciates it, does everything right regardless of the rational part of their decision. Those who simply "want to have" something because there is an allegedly general "standard" to reach or exceed, do not have the goal of building a house that supports and qualitatively improves their life in focus. It's a pity, really.
