That sums it up very well as an essence ;)

You know, I do not claim for myself to have consumed wisdom by the spoonful. I have just invested a lot of time and research in this topic, others are welcome to benefit from it. It's just an offer and that's how I also understand forums :)

Your posts are almost always constructive. Only on the topic of heat pumps are you a burned child and simply cannot come to terms with it. You almost always speak badly of heat pumps.
With almost one million heat pumps installed in Germany, there are always outliers that are poorly planned, executed, or simply Monday models.
But overall, it is a mature technology that has been in operation for 100 years - the same principle as refrigerators, heat pump dryers, air conditioners (with which you can also heat). They are even installed as heaters in cars.

It is really a shame for you that you already had to invest so much time for it to run roughly okay for you. But there are tens of hundreds of thousands of satisfied heat pump owners with proper systems.

Anecdote on the side: My penultimate house (built 2001, bought 2004) was equipped with a gas boiler. In the first 1.5 years, it was repaired dozens of times. The previous owner ruined it (also due to lack of maintenance) in just under three years to the point where a four-figure amount was needed to get it running properly again. Not to mention the annual maintenance and the associated costs.

If using gas, then design the underfloor heating for a low flow temperature so that it is relatively easy to switch to a heat pump later.

So, I've now first scheduled an appointment with an energy consultant. Unfortunately not until 10.05., but whatever, nothing is running away at the moment.
In the first phone call, he said that gas boilers and photovoltaic + heat pumps are not that different in price.

I've thought about my priorities again...
1.) Above all, seamless integration into everyday life is key; I don't want anything where you have to tinker or readjust. It has to be a fundamental component, like flipping a light switch.
2.) I currently pay 110€ for gas and 150€ for electricity for a 100m² old building without insulation (50€ of that is commercial electricity). That has to end!
3.) Of course, I also like to be ecological and sustainable - but not at any price.
4.) It has to be affordable and fit within my budget; it doesn't help me if I have to pay extra for heating later.

Oh yes, the consultant said his services amount to 4,500€ in total, half of which will be reimbursed through KfW – is that within the usual range?

Regards
Flo

That already sounds good if you really pay attention to your personal priorities and approach the matter with an open mind regarding the outcome. Heating is the same for me; it just has to work. By the way, this is also how I am with cars; functionality comes first, in other areas I sometimes like it to be more playful. The price of the energy consultant is just one thing; the more important thing is that his services suit you. Ours even cost €1,000 more, but I would do it that way again. Before that, I made a lot of calls and searches but mostly received answers that seemed little differentiated or even stuck on one system; that was not what I was looking for.
