The main problem, in my opinion, is that we are currently trying to turn too many wheels at the same time. We have the nuclear phase-out (actually only here in DE) including the energy transition, transport transition/e-mobility, a completely overheated housing and new construction market. At the same time, unfortunately, a global pandemic that costs billions.
Now it is demanded, come hell or high water, to bring forward the deadlines, which even with the current plans cannot be met. An ideological one-upmanship competition has been unleashed, which in the end will be carried out on the backs of consumers. The CO2 targets for this year have basically already been missed today and this will have massive effects, for example, at the gas pump from January at the latest. This, in turn, will further massively increase costs for retail, logistics, construction industry, etc.
