Newly built single-family house - gas or air heat pump + photovoltaics + storage?

There is social behavior and the opposite of it. And whoever wants to live in a pleasant society should follow the consensus.

One installs a gas heating system and only rides a bicycle, another installs a heat pump + photovoltaic system and drives two cars and flies abroad three times a year... you get it, there is no right or wrong, black or white. It’s the shades of gray that matter.

Sorry, but that is just blah blah that doesn’t help anyone. Just because waste occurs elsewhere doesn’t mean you can’t do the right thing somewhere else. So why should anyone choose gas at all in a new building? Just because the initial cost might be a bit cheaper?

The initial cost is cheaper, no annoying droning, gas boilers are reliable and usually run with minimal maintenance. Burning gas produces minimal CO2 and smoke/soot (compared to a wood fireplace), which pleases the neighbors. ...and while I’m typing, I’m enjoying my gas fireplace.

Please stay on topic. Heating systems can be very well discussed separately from the topics of mobility, veganism, etc. They are in no way connected.

That does not match my experience. They have to be regularly cleared of ash, have a fan that makes noise and also regularly breaks down/has bearing damage and becomes incredibly loud.

I am not very familiar with gas boilers and their prices, but you can get a Geisha heat pump for about €3000.
Even if a gas boiler were €1000 cheaper now, I don't think you can have a gas connection installed for that price?!

That is unusually cheap, I think. For us, it was €2,000. However, our general contractor would not have installed a Geisha for us but would have charged an equivalent surcharge for a standard heat pump.
