: what was the outcome of the meeting? Which option did you decide on?

Since it turned out that we do not have a gas connection, it will come down to a heat pump + photovoltaics. And since I have little space in the house, I thought not to use a split unit but an outdoor unit. However, I am currently still struggling with the notary and land acquisition and the slope of the property, so I have put the heating on the back burner for now. Without having checked recently, were there positive changes at the KfW for KFW 55 on 01.07.?

We are also considering which type of heating is right for us. Gas + solar for hot water + ventilation (KfW 55) or air-water heat pump + ventilation (KfW 55 ee).

In our new development area, the gas lines are already practically at the door. So the option with gas is obvious for us. And we want peace of mind, not to do fine-tuning and have to figure out which setting is the right one. I am not a fan of air-water heat pumps that have an outdoor unit. If at all, only as a compact unit that has no outdoor unit. But the compact solution is not supported by all general contractors. A geothermal heat pump is out of the question for us.

KfW 55 = up to 18,000€
KfW 55 ee = up to 26,250€

No gas is being built in 2021 anymore. In the countries around us it is currently being banned and we too will not be able to deny it for much longer. So if you want to "have your peace," you should definitely not rely on gas in new construction. Oh, and of course for (20 years) now one doesn’t install solar thermal on a roof, but photovoltaic, because only that makes money.

I cannot imagine that it will be banned. Probably only a look into the crystal ball will help to see what the future really holds. If the municipality is pushing the gas infrastructure in the new building area, that would be wasted effort, and according to your statement, the municipality could/should have saved itself that.

You can’t go wrong with gas at all. You can still switch to a heat pump in 20 years, that’s no problem at all. Currently, gas is still the best when it comes to cost and reliability. Closely followed by the air-to-water heat pump. You can also use that, normally you won’t do anything wrong with it. But it is somewhat more expensive and more prone to faults.
